SAP ABAP Consultant

Role & Responsibilities

• Work with clients to understand and translate their business requirements into technical specifications.
• Develop and implement SAP ABAP solutions that meet the business requirements of our clients.
• Provide technical support for existing and implementing SAP systems, including troubleshooting and bug fixing.
• Conduct unit and integration testing to ensure the quality of the developed solutions.
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure the timely delivery of projects.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to clients and contract project team members.
• Communicate effectively with business users in a multinational environment
• Elicit business requirements from the users, document them and build & configure solution Work with co-developers to explain technical requirements for needing development resources
• Work with Offshore/Nearshore teams

Skills Required

• Extensive experience in SAP ABAP programming (at least 3~4 years)
• Hands-on experience in ABAP/ABAP Objects, Dialog programming, User-exits, BADIs, Smart Forms, ALV, RFCs, and other SAP development tools.
• Hands-on experience on AWS EC2, Cloud Formation, Terraform, S3, SNS, SQS, ECS, Fargate, Amazon RDS, Set Up CI CD pipeline using Jenkins, Github actions, and Code Pipeline(plus).
• Should have the ability to analyze technical needs, and work with the customers to develop project scope of work documents and Project Plans.
• Knowledge of best practices with ABAP programming.
• Demonstrated experience with the creation of RFC, BAPI, ABAP code, User Exits, and ABAP Objects within SAP 4.6c or 6.0 environments.
• Should be able to translate functional specifications into SAP ABAP technical specifications.
• Candidate must have strong problem-solving skills, be self-directed, and a capable of working with minimal supervision.
• Must have a strong, demonstrated commitment to customer service and be committed to a proactive review of processes and procedures to continually enhance service quality, service delivery and support.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical customers.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent from an accredited college or university
• Expertise in developing custom reports, interfaces, and enhancements
• Strong knowledge of SAP modules (MM, SD - primary, CS, QM - secondary, PP, FI/CO - extra, etc.)
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Experienced in developing Object oriented and classical programs in ABAP including Reports, SmartformsSAP Scripts, Webdynpro and IDOC Processing Modifying and troubleshooting interfaces using ALE, IDOC, Flat File, RFC, BAPI etc
• Minimum 2 years of experience in ABAP OO programming language
• knowledge of S/4 Hana Abap programming, oData, CDS,Fiori, and API would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of data migration, printout technologies
• Detailed configuration & maintenance experience in the SD, MM components: Forms(SAP Scripts/Smart Forms/Adobe Forms); Reports(ALV/Classical), Interface(ALE/IDOC,BAPI); Conversions(LSMW/BDC); Enhancements (User Exit, BADI, Enhancement Spots), Object Oriented ABAP; Workflows(Development, Configuration); OData(SAP ODATA Framework, Eclipse IDE, and SAP Web IDE, OData service creation and implementation)
• Good experience in building OData services using NetWeaver Gateway and ABAP
• Understanding SAP (SD/MM), plus PP/PM + Financials(FI/CO/PS)
• Hands-on experience in ABAP development
• Excellent knowledge in Forms, Reports, Conversions
• Strong hands on SAP BODS resource
• ETL design and implementation involving extraction and provisioning of data
• Should have expertise in data provisioning and error handling from various source
• Strong SQL/PL SQL programming skills
• Experience in Data Migration Projects between various application databases
• Strong written and verbal communication skills is a must
• Good understanding of the overall Architecture comprising of SAP and Non SAP entities along with process knowledge of Utilities domain
• Support SAP Functional team and provide technical and operational expertise for Major Developments and Projects
• Ensure SAP functional best practices are adhered to during Project execution and Support Phase.
• Provide technical feasibility and appropriateness during Project Discussions and resolutions when alternative solutions are available for ABAP Development Request
• Perform detailed planning & project management of implementation activities for updates & patching where required
• Maintain process documentation for ABAP processes & tasks
• Defining, developing, or modifying software application modules using disciplined
• software development processes in SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA, BTP, CDS, FIORI, UI5 when required.
• Derivation and development of technical concepts from functional concepts and Development Specification Request Document.
• Installation, configuration, customization, and integration of third-party software also in auxiliary SD/MM/CS/QM related tools, middleware, and frameworks
• Conducting developer/unit testing of application modules to ensure application meets specifications
• Supporting in developing system architecture/interfaces.
• Documenting functions and changes to new or modified modules, test activities and related area like error handling and backup/recovery procedures (GitLab).
• Analysis of bugs and their elimination in the context of incident and problem management.
• Adhering to quality standards and procedures. Reviewing modules for quality assurance and checks compliance with application architecture standards.
• Design and implementation of interfaces to customer- or 3rd party systems
• Design, conception, and implementation of generic solutions based on SAP Best Practice, Core Concept, BTP
• The ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and clients is required.
• Experience in SAP S/4HANA and ECC 6.0
• Experience in CDS & BTP.
• Experience in Agile methodology
• Experience in working on SAP implementation projects
• Experience in FIORI will be added advantage.
